Live in The Present: Feel Your Body

Living in the present is something that I have to continually remind myself to do. By being fully aware of what is happening exactly in the present moment, all of the stresses of the future and past falls away. The present continually moving onto the next moment but somehow it is still called “the present”. Oh, how complex and powerful the present moment is. I love to let it blow my mind.

It is so beautiful to observe how perfectly our bodies function because each part of us is being created so intricately. I say “being created” because our bodies are constantly maintaining this state of homeostasis.

homeostasis

1.

the tendency of a system, especially the physiological system ofhigher animals, to maintain internal stability, owing to thecoordinated response of its parts to any situation or stimulus thatwould tend to disturb its normal condition or function.

2.

Psychology. a state of psychological equilibrium obtained whentension or a drive has been reduced or eliminated.

It is so beautiful that our heart beats steadily, to let us breathe and live in a comfortable way. I love to let this blow my mind: even if we are in a room and there is no noise happening (no white noise of the A/C or heater, noise of the cars going on outside, no vibrations from elsewhere), we are still reassured that time is passing and that each moment flows onto the next because our heart is beating and our chest is going up and down. We are created in such a way that even if we try to be completely still for just a moment, we cannot because our bodies are created to be in a process of breathing, feeling, and moving.

My mother pointed out to me an intriguing point. She talked about how quiet our bodies are. This is true: for all of the things going on throughout us, our bodies are near silent! There are many machines that are incredibly noisy for just doing one thing. It is interesting that the machines made for creating air flow (leaf blowers, hair dryers, Air Conditioning units) are all quite noisy. Now, compare this to our lungs and our breathing. We are completely silent. (aside from sneezing and snoring!) Our bodies are the constant that we continually experience by always living in the present. In fact, our bodies cannot function anywhere other than the present — unless time travel exists. This is why yoga brings us fully into the present moment because we are able to tune into our bodies — which are constantly living in the present.

I really enjoy to contemplate new and interesting ways to understand and look at ourselves, the world, and situations to gain deeper awareness. I am motivated and inspired by things such as these and I hope to bring interest to you through my posts. Be on the lookout for more posts soon!
